Electro-Static Shock? -I'm blinded by science- 200 1990

Recently I realised that everytime I turn off the engine and get out of the car, when I touch the door to close it(I'm outside) I'll get a big electro-static shock. I understand that I take the shock because I'm grounded, but if I don't shut the engine off I don't get the shock.. Any Idea on how to stop these shocks (my wife doesn't want to turn off the engine anymore....)

help!

**Maybe not related but at about the same time the shock started sometimes when the car is warm & I make a quick stop, when I come back to turn the engine on I will have to leave my foot on the gas pedal or the car will die for the first 30 seconds, could this be related or it can be the air mass meter going out?**
