965 needs a new head gasket!! 900 1992

I have an occasional coolant leak that seams to come and go. Now it seams to be getting worse and I suspect the head gasket is leaking at the exhaust manifold area. How big a job is it to pull the head on this motor and how about parts cost and availability? I am sure I have the mechanical skill to complete this job but wonder what I am in for opening up this motor. Tom I think you have been down this road ,am I poking at a bee hive with a stick?
