Sure. The problem here is that they are treating you like crap, and you are still trying to be "fair." They have an obligation to fix your car, and fix it properly, and absolutely NO reason to expect you to pay for their mistakes. My feeling is that unless you tell them how it's going to be, they are going to keep dicking you around and will expect you to foot the bill all the way.

This stuff isn't rocket science. The brake system is one of the simpler systems on the 240, and if a couple of 30 year Volvo mechanics can't figure it out, then they are, as you said, idiots.
