$350 for r-134 conversion? 200 1982

I recently had an independant mechanic quote me 350 to change my '82 240 AC system over to 134. Is this a reasonable price? I do all the work on my cars but for some reason am not to pumped to attempt the AC. How difficult / safe is this job for the DIY mechaic?
