I don't know if you have two or three bolt SU's but if you have two bolt make sure you have the air filters oriented the right way.

During the tuning process I had one incident of getting them upside down which will block the vacuum ports and really screwing up how SU's work. Pretty red-faced but will never overlook that one again.

Doubt that would explain everything but I try to start with the easiest/cheapest and the money will still spend itself eventually.
