When I beep my horn the needle on the tachometer shoots up 700 1987

I have a 1987 740 turbo with 195,000 miles, and when I beep the horn the needle on the tachometer shoots all the way up. The engine doesn't rev, but the needle still moves. Any help will be gladly appreciated.
