No, the glue mixture you mention will not work. In fact, it will damage the headliner board (the material the headliner is glued to), and increase teh expense to really "fix" this down the road.

Pull the headliner board and replace the headliner completely. Go to a fabric shop and they'll have some. Make sure you get 1/8" for the WHOLE roof. People will tell you to use 1/4" on the roof and 1/8" on the sunroof, but this is incorrect. The headliner must squeeze into small cracks around areas such as the sunroof edge, front window guard, etc. 1/4" will not fit properly, and will pull out again and again.

BTW, be very careful when you remove the headliner board from teh car... it can get fragile with age and break if you put too much strain on it (i.e., don't let it dangle free,support its own weight with your hands).

Last note, headliner material will cost you about $75. If you frag the headliner board a replacement from IPD or volvo will cost you about 5-6 times that amount, at least... so be careful.
