Hi there fellow Bricksters ....
OK I was given a GM Alternator that has been modified to put out full power at lower rpm than stock ... it had been being used on a Jeep CJ for ploughing Snow. The Jeep was equipped with an electric / hydraulic pump.... which drew quite a lot of power ... that is why the alternator was modified. It was in use for several years and worked GREAT .... but eventually during ploughing all of a sudden the indicator light came on, so my buddy... rather than take the time to have it tested, swapped it out and put it on the shelf meaning to check it out later ... didn't happen. Anyway to cut to the chase ... along I came with electrical problems with my 122 that we had already installed a similar internally regulated GM alternator.... which we now suspect is faulty. So off the shelf came the old alternator and away I went with it to UAP to have it tested. The only fault that was recorded was "Lamp circuit" .... am I correct in assuming that what that means is that the signal that goes to the indicator lamp is faulty and that the actual alternator which shows actually better than stock readings is really OK ... but the indicator says it isn't?? Output is indicated at 14.2 volts.... If this is all OK so far, what would be the FIX so that I wouldn't have that doggone light glowing at me.
