Changing brake fluid - potential problem?

Yes that stuff will cause wear on seals, etc in your brake system, but worse is if the brake fluid is allowed to get nasty it also gets a lot of H2O in there....lowers the boiling temps.....and causes your brakes to go away. I HAVE seen accidents and was also very close to an incident at a campground where a toddler was killed because someone never maintained the brakes - ie didn't flush for the life of the car (about 100K miles) - long downhill, fluid boiled, no pedal...........

Easy to do. Routine item. In the glovebox manual.

What I shouldn't write and don't take it personal: I hope you are just new to this site and car maintenance, and learned a valuable lesson about brake fluid. If you ARE a regular here, then did you miss class a few times? :)
