AW71 Question 700 1989

I have been having the strangest thing happen with my transmission when I put it into park. It has only happened a couple times, and I was able to shut it off, restart it, and everything was cool again. Another clue is my radio was out and the dash lights as well when it happened. Is the AW71 controlled electronically? It sure seems like there's some sort of short somewhere, and something is hanging up in the tranny. Its a horrible grinding/screeching sound. I want to figure this out before I ruin the transmission. Anyone have any ideas, or had this happen (and figured it out) before?
