Overdrive Problem 1985 M-46 700

I did a partial rebuild of my own OD about a year ago to alleviate problems that I was having. (Different symptoms from yours.) What I did was to buy the mini rebuild kit from IPD. It included replacements for all of the internal o-rings and seals. To take the OD off of the car, rebuild it and reinstall took me a full weekend. (I'm sure it can be done faster, but I was taking my time.) The cost of the kit is something like $65. If the problem is caused by worn seals, there is a good chance that this would fix it. This would also afford you the opportunity to inspect for other internal damage such as a worn cone clutch. (A dead cone clutch, however, would probably force you into buying a used OD afterall.) I can't offer any guarantees, but hopefully some of this information is useful. Feel free to ask more questions as they come to you.
