What to look for? 200 1981

I am temporarily hosting my wife's aunt's 1981 244DL. Noticed that the windshield was fogging up - suspected heater core (confirmed and in process of being replaced). Am also changing out brake fluid, auto trans fluid, new valve cover gasket, lower left ball joint, new fuel filter and mount. It has 174K miles at present. What are other things I should be concerned about / looking to repair in the future?

I know interior items will need to be r&r'd (dash top, arm rests, etc.), but am more concerned about what mechanical/safety items to look for. Also, rear seat belt retractors seem to be not very quick on take up - can these be repaired at home, or are they just a straight replace?
