Flame trap PICTURE CONFUSION 200 1990

Model: 1990 240 DL Sedan

OK..OK..I know.. not another flame trap question! However, I found the trap and thought that I replaced it correctly but am confused by a diagram I later saw on the board.

This is what I did: Top hose connects to the housing with the flame trap(white plastic piece inside black housing "flame arrestor"?). Bottom hose (open) connects to oil seperator. Small hose from manifold to small stem piece on platic housing. Is this right?? If so, what is this picture all about. It would mean I have it upside down. Per the picture, the Flame arrestor/white piece/trap is son on the bottom hose to the breather box (or oil separator.) Am I missing something or misdefined the breather box. Help please. Thanks.
