transmission leak & long drive 200

Help!

I have a significant transmission leak on my 1985 240 wagon. I'm in the midst of a long drive from Idaho to Eugene, Oregon. The leak has grown very bad. Hard to quantify rate of fluid loss. So much coming out that the back hatchback window gets covered with an opaque mist of oily film within 50 miles. Also, it quickly becomes impossible to shift up into 4th gear.

I have about 350 miles ahead of me.

Do I just keep driving and filling with ATF until I get home to effect repairs?

Tried transmission stop leak,to no avail.

ALSO: is Dextron III an OK equivalent for the Dextron IID called for in my owner's manual?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Dennis
