740t - what have I got? 700 1989

I'm embarassed to say so but after much looking at site, faqs etc I'm still not certain what I have bought. Vehicle was made in Belgium then exported to Japan, where it only travelled 48k's in 12 years. Then imported to New Zealand where I bought it as a 1989 740 turbo intercooler. Briefly it has single headlights,everything that opens and shuts, leather seats with cloth inserts,3 speed auto with elec o/d, turbo plus graphics on front guards above volvo badge. All petrol in NZ unleaded, using 96 octane. Would love to know which motor, trans, turbo, and injection system so I can find my way around this great site. You are probably thinking ask the dealer, however with these jap imports info is scarce on particular models and histories non existent. It is a lovely car and has made me an instant convert. Sorry about being long winded but I don't want to seem an idiot. Any help appreciated.
