I disagree with DBurge. You may have been lucky to have the pulley slip when the valves were closed but to be honest, I don't know if it is possible to have all 16 valves be in a non-interference position at the same time. Are you sure the crank is turning over, not just the starting motor spinning? (I assume so but I thought I'd ask anyway, don't mean to insult your intelligence.) The marks on the balance belt will look off after a few rotations because they rotate at twice the revs as the crank. Crank it over by hand and I THINK it will realign after n revs of the crank (don't know what 'n' is, it depends on the tooth ratios). My guess is that if you take off the pulley and both belts, reallign everything and torque down the pulley, then you will be fine IF you haven't bent any valves. I don't know if the pulley is keyed but if it is, check to ensure that the key is not broken.

The B234F is a bit more work than the B230F but is is not that bad. Take it slow and enjoy the process.
