I have air tools, and I would recommend them if you can squeeze them in. The upright compressors are pretty compact. The air stuff will cost more money for all the stuff, and the tools need to be oiled and kept clean.

I have used an electric impact wrench, it was a heavy-duty Sears one, I was impressed at how well it worked for lug nuts in a junkyard. You don't have to worry about maintenance as much with the electric. The electric, however, is much heavier, and larger. It won't fit into some places the air wrench will.

Also, it seems like the electric one isn't as "zippy". It seemed to have less impacts per minute, or less of a "bam bam bam" quickness and sharpness. That may be important for the strut nut, since the shaft likes to spin. Without a doubt, the air tool will work on this nut. If anyone has used an electric impact for this specific job, that would be good to know.
