Knocking Problem 700 1988

I have a 1988 760T with about 133,000 miles and it has started knocking pretty bad in the last year. The car idles ok but starts idling really bad - especially going uphill. I was reading some articles that this could be caused by a bad knock sensor. What suggestions can you give me. The only tune up items I have addressed is a spark plug change about 8 months ago. If the knock sensor is the answer, can you suggest a source?

Thanks,
