Any Generic/Inexpensive In Tank Pump Replacements? 700 1989

The in tank pump on my 89 745T is dead. My mechanic said the version used in turbos is a slightly higher flowing feed pump and costs about twice as much, around $100. For a little more, I could buy a domestic V8 in tank pump like those sold for Mustangs, and tie wrap it to the assembly. Those are primary, rather than feed pumps, but I don't see how using one as a feed pump could hurt. I have a hotrodded motor and don't want to lose any flow, so whatever I do must equal or exceed the stock system -- which has proven adequate for 18 psi of boost and 75 psi of fuel pressure in the past.

Thanks for any advice.

Philip Bradley
