I wish everyone who purchases a used Volvo was given a test drive on the brickboard on the day of the purchase. You people are extreamly helpful. So far only one real smartass answer to one of my dumb questions. Last year I asked about how to reset the service engine light. One wiseguy told me I needed to take it to a certified Volvo mechanic or dealer. If I felt I could afford to take it to the dealer to reset the service engine light I wouldn't be driving a ten year old car. Four other people told me about removing the rubber plug on the instrument cluster and use a paper clip to press the reset. I wont go into all the various things I've needed to do that you helped me with, there have been many, up to and including replacing the timeing belt and tensioner just last week. Toyota Tom mentioned someone talking about sueing someone for bad advise. Now wouldn't that be the neighborly thing to do. I know we can't but would like for us to all get together and beat the snot out of anyone who tried. This is no more than talking to a buddy over the back fence, asking his advise and trying what he suggested. If you don't want to take the chance, take your darned car to the dealer. They are insured and will take full responsability for anything that goes wrong. I know if I stick a screw driver in the starter ring to keep the crank from turning and it breaks a tooth, I pay for it. Of course I'd come back on the board and tell everyone what I did wrong and hope it didn't happen to anyone else. Let's all just grow up! I for one appreciate the help.
