What's the noise made by a dying wiper motor? 200 1987

For all the years I've been using the 'Board, I've been reading about the loose magnets inside the case of the wiper motor and how to epoxy them back. But I've never experienced it.

The other day I flipped the wipers on to get rid of some mist, and the wiper motor made a moaning, mildly grinding noise -- as though the gear reduction train was lacking in lubricant -- and the wipers worked at about 1/2 speed. Same thing this morning coming to work. I'd always envisioned that the loose magnet problem would make a much more nasty metallic clunky kind of noise.

Anyone recognize the noise my motor is making and what its affliction could be? Is it the loose magnet problem or is it something else pretty commonplace? A trip to the pick-n-pull seems necessary, but I'm curious about opinions of the advance diagnosis. Thanks!
