Does it idle well? Does it idle well only after you shut off the ignition, unplug the AMM and restart? That would clinch it. There could be other problems though. The Bosch 002 type meters are plentiful and cheap and I suggest buying a used one or looking at cobwebparts. I think he has a few good ones.
