Fuel Economy/Idle issues 200 1982

Hello All,

I have some issue with my two door 200 series! The gas mileage seems to be getting worse and worse. I have changed air cleaner. Also the idle is irregular and it seems to take a long time to return to normal idle rpm's after giving it gas then letting off. Furthermore when it is at standard operating temp and I give it gas as it returns to normal idle it will almost dies for a split second then return to normal idle. Also if I give it just a little gas the idle will jump up to about 500 rpms above normal and stay there untill I give it a quick pump on the accelerator then it returns to norm idle after the doing the almost die for a split second thing.

I was wonder could it be the air exchanger or vacuum leek. I have look at all hose and don't see or hear vacuum leak. I did find a disconnected hose but upon reconnecting it found no change in problems. Are the fuel economy and idle problems related ???? I hope!!! What should I replace first.

Thanks for all the help this boards Rules!!!! VM
