steering rack R & R 200 1990

I am looking at my 1990 240 DL leaking power steering fluid from behind the
the the rubber sleeves.
I read a excellent idea of replacing the power steering fluid with ATF fluid the adding a ounce or two of P/S fluid.
ATF fluid bing thicker than P/S fluid will stop the leak.
Befor I tried it I wanted some opinions from the enlightend few that know their bricks.
I will post the results, at this stage it will not hurt anything to try.
