outer tie rod question 200 1990

I am lost here. I went to the FAQ and archives and went through the the posts on replacing the outer tie rod. But one thing still bothers me.
1) I ordered the outer tie rod. I recieved it just the way it looks as in item #2 in this website : http://www.chicagoclassicimports.com/v240frsmain.htm
2) Am I not supposed to take out the locking nut shown in the picture, put in a ball joint and then put back the locking nut and tighten ? I looked at the tie rod on my front wheels and it looks that way. Then why is it when I order the part, there is no mention of a ball joint that goes with the tie rod (in all the website that sell this)?

3) If (with the front wheels jacked up) I wiggle the front wheel and I get movement, is this a sign of a bad tie rod? The wheel on the passenger side can wiggle more than the wheel on the driver side.

4) A few weeks ago I eneded up doing a 270 degree spin in the middle of I-95 and did not hit any car. The entire traffic stopped behind me. EWhen my car was spinning I could have sworn I would hit another car, but I didn't. Left me all shook up. But after that incident, I got "thumpimg sound" form the passenger side, sounds like it comes from the wheel. The sound repeats like on very wheel turn. I have no idea what it is. I had the front wheel jacked up, and I spun the wheel by hand, did not hear anything? Any ideas ??

Thanks
zakir
