Observations when changing a cam 900 1993

Tonight I began the process of upgrading the cam on my 93 940T. Just finished doing my 87 NA last week, but this time there is a bit more going on. First, the engine only has 135K on it, but someone was afraid to change oil and consequently there is a lot of baked on sludge (I removed) in the area around the valves. This was a rather time consuming job, but looks good now. The other thing is the little 'hushers' under the lifter were all shot. Either in pieces or fried from the heat. Cleaned the lifter barrels and installed new hushers.

Hope to polish it off this weekend and see how we fly.

If you start to hear some valve noise in your car and it is high mileage, you might want to seriously think about replacing these little rubber hushers. They are inexpensive and do not change your valve clearance. Your engine will be quieter too.

Love the grease!!
