Radio Trouble: Simple fix or pay for new radio and installation? 200

Radio Trouble.

I have a beautiful Dark Blue 1991 240 with 102K miles. Mechanically perfect.

Symtoms:

1) My radio however cuts out after 5 minutes of driving every time I drive it. The radio plays fine but after a few minutes it will just cut out. Any suggestions?

2) The tape deck doesn't work. Not a big deal but a minor annoyance.

Questions:

A) Should I get someone to try to fix the thing? I like having the original radio in.

B) If I do get a new one, does anyone have any suggestions. I would like to get one that dims with the dash lights. Is such a thing possible?

Thanks for you comments.
