Brain teaser 700

I like the deteriorated plastic socket on the distributor as a culprit. On your 87 it's probably hardened and cracked. The piece is hard to find but cheap, $5-7 or so.

I'm surprised no one has suggested the ignition amplifier or module (it lives on a heat sink on the driver's side of the engine wheel well next to the M80-firecracker-looking injector ballast resistors.

I've had to replace the amplifier on both my B230FT turbos...1987 and 1990.
