Still having JERK;Y ACCELERATION, have questions 200

Volvo bretheren,

About a week and half ago I was complaining about the poor drivability I was having. I walked outside one day and started the car right and drove off and noticed a jerky hesitation, then a burst of acceleration, I'd shift then go through the cycle again, up hills here in Austin I start off real slow. It was recommended that I change the plugs and wires, as well the fuel filter, also the oxygen sensor.

Yesterday I cleaned the old spark plugs and reinstalled them, this help a little. The plugs were covered in dusty carbon, the gap was not bridged, meaning the carbon had not built up so bad that there was a gross build up, I cleaned them with a wire brush, I noticed a little improvement. Today I changed the plugs, the old plugs were getting black again closer to the threads. I put the new plugs in with new wires rotor and cap, I changed the fuel filter too, definitely an improvemnt but still have jerky acceleration but it is defintely better. It's not there yet. Keep in mind it was running fine one day then jerky the next, I'm wondering if it jumped a notch when I started it up, I'm planning to look at timing. I bought a new oxygen sensor but haven't put it in yet. What does that carbon buildup indicate?

All help really appreaciated, I think I'm almost there!

Regards, Josh
