For a while lately, my 82 240 wagon (CIS/Kjet, 4sp/od, 194K) is hard to start once it had been warmed up. Always starts cold. Let it cool down, it starts. New plugs fixed it for a week, but now its up to its old tricks, and this evening was a jerky POS driving home from groceries. Hadda drive with the hazards on. For a while I thought it was fuel pressure realted, seemed I had much more trouble below half tank than when full, but I've since disproved that, it doesn't care now. I'm gonna get a new fuel filter, but also want to know:
1. How important is the "draft tube" (open-ended, short U- shaped hose) on the control pressure regulator? I knocked it off fiddling with my temp guage wire, rubber too old and hard to get back on in that tight spot. I'm gonna make a new one with some nice new fuel line I just got, but haven't yet.
2. Should I be looking at any relays? I can solder very well, this would be easy... But which freakin' relays, theres a hundred in there!!! I can always hear my fuel pump(s), so Maybe its not THAT relay. If you could email me pictures of the locations of the important ones, I'd really appreciate it.

3. What else?
Also, I've replaced all the volkswagen fuses for all fuel and ignition related circuits with the stainless/glass bulletts. Plugs good, cap and rotor newish and recently lightly sanded, coil tower contact sanded and polished. Got lots of spark...
Except for this evening, when it runs it runs great, starting was the biggest hurdle.
Any general advice appreciated too!
Its fully insured, can someone just drop a piano on it for me? OK, I'M JUST KIDDING!
Thanks,
J
