240DL will not start in warm weather 200 1989

my son drives an 89 240 dl with an unusual problem. the car will not start when the temperature is above 75 degrees. its a great car in the winter but when the weather warms up he is stuck. somedays it will start at 8 in the morning but not at 4 in the afternoon. the engine cranks fine but will not fire. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks joe
