Temperature w/ AC on 200 1985

I noticed while sitting at a traffic light for 2-3 minutes with the AC on that the temperature gauge registered above half way (maybe 10 o clock). Is this bad or normal? Also about 75 degrees outside. (w/o AC on the engines runs about 8 o clock on gauge consistently)
