'95 945 - The Holy Grail? 900

I have been reading Brickboard for the last few nights trying to decide what my next wagon should be. I've had an '85 745T, which I sold to my sister, and its engine seized. Sshe has forgiven me. I now drive an '88 745T with 198K miles. But the '88 is starting to get a little tired. It leaks and burns oil, and my shop can't seem to stop the leaks. As for the burning, I am disappointed, as I get it changed every 3000 mi. with Castrol GTX 10W30. Maybe I should have started to read the Brickboard a long time ago - as it seems that synthetic oil is the way to go, too late now.

Anyway - I was hoping to find that a late model 965, or a '98 V90 would be great cars. I wanted to have a six cylinder for a change, as my luck with the four turbos hasn't been the best. I did drive a '97 965 at a used car lot recently. I loved the smooth power, and all the luxury features the car had. But I was bummed out to find on Brickboard - an almost universal condemnation of the 960s in all the posts - that these cars are nothing but problems. What a disappointment. I wonder why this happened - it is really a shame.

The reason I'm writing to all of you is that you seem to echo what I have heard somewhere, and that is that the '95 945 is the #1 coveted Volvo Wagon. I wonder if you could tell me why this is so? And - is the 945T as sought after? Is it as revered? I hope so - because I believe a normally aspirated four in a wagon would be a dog.

Thanks all; I hope you can shed some light. I want to own another Volvo wagon, it is the perfect sized car – with just enough coolness.
