Old car, less than average mileage, ridiculous price? 200 1985

There is a guy around here who is selling an '85 244 turbo. It's immaculate, and it's only got 84K miles on it. But the guy is asking $5000 and refuses to negotiate on the price. I tried to tell him that he'll never realistically get more than $3000 for it (I put it more politely than that, ok?), but it appears that he has some kind of a hearing impediment.

I know this is crazy, but I'm seriously tempted to do it. This car is so nice (even has a sunroof) that i wouldn't mind living on a diet of bread and water for the next month.

But, I'm not sure if this is entirely rational...I mean, is there really anything special about this car, or is it just an old Volvo that hasn't logged enough miles to need big ticket repairs yet? IOW, wondering if I would be wiser to buy one that has average mileage (170-200K), for half the price or less, and that has already had the "big ticket" repairs done.

What do you folks think?

Thanks.
