P1800 Restoration update 1800

I've never had a problem with bad wiring on an oold Volvo - including my '63 544. They used good quality wiring and most problems are usually associated with
1) Previous owner's bodges and hacks and modifications
2) Brittle insulation on wires on and around the engine - they can only stand so many decades of heat and oil exposure.

Now my Dad's '51 Jaguar and '6? Land Rover, on the other hand, seem like they used natural rubber insulation with a cloth mesh cover. This gets brittle and dry rotted - when you poke a wire with your finger the insulation just crumbles right off leaving a bare wire. Probably supplied by Lucas???
