Gear shift boot 200 1984

I cut a slice in a rubber boot so I could fit it over my Momo knob. The problem is that the shifter pulls against the rubber boot (esp. 2nd gear), so I wasn't able to stop the slice from spreading into a tear. Maybe the hole punch idea mentioned below would work. I'm not too worried becasue I have a leather boot from a Turbo, but you might want to consider removing the knob to install the boot if you'll only have the rubber one.

At least one of the V8 240 owners has cut the top off the rubber boot because it was pulling the shifter out of gear. Again, this is really only an option if you install the leather boot that fits over the rubber. Otherwise you'll end up with a lot of hot air blowing up past the shift lever because the hole will be much larger.
