Cooling fan restarts and drains battery 900 1993

Have a problem that has occured 3 times over the two last years. i.e. VERY
intermittent !!!

With the AC switch in OFF positions and the ventilation fan in pos 0 the
engine cooling fan starts to run sometime after the engine is stopped and
ignition key removed. The fan runs then until the battery is completly flat.

When putting on starting jumper cords from another car battery the cooling
fan runs for a short while. Disconnecting the two-wire-plug, driving the
fan relay coil, stops the fan and refitting it start the fan again. After
a few seconds the fan stops completely and I have no idea which one of
the two relay contacts where making the fan run. This test shows that the
fan relay is OK, i.e. no sticky contacts.

How to trouble shoot this and is there a wiring diagram available showing
the concerned parts. The famous russian diagrams only show injection and
ignition parts!

Thanks a lot for helping!

With regards/Per Gallno
