questions for home projects 200 1980

Hi,

I am dying of boredom till my new exhuast is installed, till then I would like to spruce up the car inside. The ceiling inside the car (or lining?) is made up foam or something. Would it be possible if I were to get shoe paint and paint the inside lining? Or is there something else I can use?

Since I'm asking questions, does anybody know if the metal bumpers of pre 1981 240's are interchangeable with newer 240's? I was looking at (when my small insignificant tax refund comes in) ways of reducing weight. This would be a wonderful way of starting, I believe. And if ever the cash cows are ever generous to me, I would like to replace all the metal side panels on the car and replace them with aluminum or fiber glass. Which is better, Aluminum or fiber glass? That last question is just something to keep my mind wondering, you know getting bored and ALL.

Thanks
AL
