740 A/C problem 700

Greetings and thanks to all who submitted suggestions to others A/C problems.

After reviewing these I concluded I had a cold solder joint on the controller circuit board. Sure enough, after pulling the unit out of the dash and examining it with a 10X magnifier, ΐX would do, but i couldn't find that one!] the pin near board center and adjacent to the connector pins was dirty looking [from overheating as the available conductor material diminished] and it was 'floating' in mid air.

To help with heat dissipation, I enlarged the solder area on the board pad by scraping away some of the coating around the pin. Cleaned things up, carefully resoldered leaving a good 'ball' and put things back together. Again, I was careful to make sure all connecters were in firmly, especially the pneumatics.

Voila! Joy o Joy! It's working consistently now. In Florida, that's important!

Thanks again to the Brickboard.
