Runaway 164 140-160

The only cable that runs from the carbs to the G/box is the kickdown cable. It works in the wrong direction for it to pull the carbs open. Overadjust it and the box permanently tries to kick down. Underadjust it and it does nothing at all. Unless of course they somehow managed to reroute it???

There is a lever on the linkage, that lever should pull the cable as you open the throttle.

Personally I'd have a serious look at the carb linkages themselves, and whether the return springs are present and correct.
