'89 765T Timing Belt Tensioner issues. 700 1989

I was replacing the timing belt that walked off tonight (see 765T Cooling System Issues post), and I was tightening up the tensioner when I found the reason that the belt walked off in the first place. I found that I couldn't tighten the tensioner. I kept turning the wrench, but it wouldn't snug up. I found that the bolt ate the threads out of the block. My current thought is to have a friend of mine with a tap & die set stop by and retap the hole. Anyone have a better/different idea?

Also, when I removed the camshaft pulley (Volvo special tool 5284 ROCKS by the way), I found that the guide pin was missing. As I kept seeing references to it in both the 240 Bentley manual, on the FAQ, and in the Haynes, I'm thinking that it is a necessary item, and I should get one to replace it. Any counter thoughts?

Thanks to all for your help and expertise!
-Eric
