I found a local ad in the paper for a 89 740 230K for $1200.

I went to look at the car. Looked ok from the outside. The leather inside biodegraded on all the seats (tan). The interior plastic (tan) has red marks all over it, the owner explained the cars PO kept 'goats' that ran all over the car and 'nibbled' the carpets.

Popped the hood, oil everywhere. Leaking coolant from the water pump. The coolant itself has oil inside it (bad head). That's not the worst part. Over the wheel wells, the chasis is rusted away. Rusted and worn through from the hood hinge anchor to the front of the car. You can see the ground. On both sides too. The frame under the car is showing rust. And the car is missing the manf plate in the engine compartment. It was an 87 not an 89.

Walked away.
