Auto to Manual conversion questions 700 1987

Well it looks like the OD is starting to go in my AW71. About 6 months ago I started to notice the RPMs would jump 300-400 as the throttle was depressed.
Today the jump is 500-600 RPMs. I was at 65 mph(2450rpm) with cruise on as I came to small hills the rpms moved to 2900-3100 so the tranny could keep the
speed up. In other words it seems the OD clutch pack is going. I figure I have 3 or 4 months left before the OD dies for good. My 86 744 had a Manual and I loved it. I know a few of you have done this conversion. What am I looking at cost and time doing this conversion? Either way I'm looking at a new tranny.
I might as well start aquiring the parts early (new or used). I did not see a manual tranny in the 7 salvage yards I checked yesterday.
