Ignition system questions 200 1983

I want to know if I can use the bosch distributor with the plug mounted on the distributor in my 83 240. The original is the bosch style with the lead coming out of the distributor and the round plug. The wires are the same three wires, green, yellow, and black. Does the newer style still use the same Hall sensor as in mine? I think I have traced my problem with not having any spark to the hall sensor. I have a new coil, coil wire, distributor cap, computer (I was having problems with the fuel supply which is cured), and the wiring harness has been repaired in all the places it was messed up. The car ran fine after repairing the wiring harness until it died driving down the interstate, plenty of fuel, no spark. Hall sensor? Electronic control unit? Please help.
