OD engages fine first couple times drivin, then it seems stops when car gets hot? 700

my overdrive on my m46 is acting up. the first time i shift into od it goes no problem. then after the 2nd or 3rd time the od light comes on and it does not engage. sometimes it slams in seconds later. most of the time the light comes on and it does nothing. the wiring looks ok. i have noticed that sometimes i can get od to work if i hit the button and increase the speed it will shift into od delayed but quicker than not pushing the pedal. ON rare occasions the od has slipped out when driving on interstate. other times it does it when i slow down on interstate. is this a problem that is inside the od or relay or solenoid or switch, i am lost.

the relay does sit loose in the connector, but i can hit the side panel and it usually lights up.
