Weird compression values 700 1988

From what you say Im wondering how the compression guage is calibrated.....if its supposed to be 116-160 PSI, and you get 220 PSI, youve either got a deisel, or a scrwey guage, thats 25% more compression than what you are supposed to have! At this point... I would question the guage...figure you have good compression thats even, which is the most important thing, and if you do not have any pinging or knocking problems, don't worry...be happy!!
