...I was just wondering why you feel you must change the whole mechanism...in the first place, a weekend may not be enough time(!), given that you need to rip a lot of the dash apart for access, and you might really just need to tighten up the double nuts at the end of the cables to get rid of the slop in the works (if that's your concern)...I think I would prefer a root-canal to a wiper swap in an 1800...

I just compared 1800 (cable), with 122 (gear) mechanisms...it looks like it may work (but there is no place to screw the lower two bolts into...you may need to bend or even cut away this part of the bracket to fit it).

Please let us know how you make out.
