Is oil consumption common in turbo 7's? 700 1986

I've put over 1k miles on my free 760 turbo now, changed the oil and filter when i got it. Used 20/50 and just checked the oil, down a quart. The rear main leaks a little but front seals are fine, pulled the timing cover and all is dry up front. Is this common or should i be concerned. I like to kick in the turbo occasionaly to fell the kick but i'm not in it all the time. Also when i turn on the climate control i get kind of an exhaust smell coming in, all seems to be tight at the motor. No xaust leaks under the hood. What could be causing this? Had a leak at the pipe that goes over the rear axle, bandadged that until i can gat a new system. She runs beautifully though, went to atlantic city this past weekend with it,(3 1/2 hrs each way) and it ran flawlessly. Can anyone advise me on the oil usage and xaust odor? TIA for your help. By the way i was offered $2k bucks for the car last week, some guy wanted it for his kids... Tom 240aholic
