240 Trim Question 200

We've bought an '84 245T -- and it's in need of a good paint job, which we will get around to, but also the black trim that is just under the windows (either decal or painted on with special gun) is in bad shape. Does anyone know what this is or how to repair it? Should we tape & paint or is there a decal out there that will replace the old one?
