Gear calculator Intentional new thread 700

http://pw1.netcom.com/~sgalaba/mph.htm#GearSpeed

You may interested in how moving from a auto to manual can make a big difference
in rpms. At the moment I have a AW71. At 2500 rpm 65.40 mph, 3000 rpm 78.49.
If I change to a manual the OD ratio drops from .69 to .78. It does make a big difference since I have a 4.10 final drive ratio. 2500 rpms speed drops to 57.86 mph, 3000 rpms 69.43 mph. As you can see the speed drops 7.54 mph at 2500 rpm and at 3000 the difference is 9.06 miles per hour. Thus by changing the rear gears to 3.54 ratio I will return to the original drive ratios. It is fun to play with combinations to see the final out come. Performance wise easy 0 to 100 speed increase down side 4 to 5 miles per gallon on the Highway.
